Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Goat Inn
This local pub can be found on the village High Street in Codicote. It feels like a typical town centre local, rather than a village pub.
The pub has a couple of rooms. A small room on the left had a dartboard and a large picture of a goat on the wall. The main room can be found the other side of a fireplace which features plenty of horse brasses. A blue carpet features throughout and there are some more goat pictures in the main room. Seating is mostly on a raised area to the far right-hand side. There are some old decorative handpulls above one window and some Trivial Pursuit question cards were on a shelf. Music was playing and there was a healthy afternoon crowd.
To the rear, there is a covered smoking shelter, along with a garden and a terrace, named the Tipsy Terrace. There was also some kind of shack selling food on the opposite side of the car park.
There are 4 handpulls on the bar. Abbot & Landlord are the regular cask ales. The other 2 handpulls remained unclipped. Ciders were Strongbow, Thatcher's Gold & Inch's. This pub featured in the 2025 Good Beer Guide but subsequently dropped out. As an example of a local High Street pub, it's fine but it's not worth visiting for its ales.
