Bucking Fastard left this review about The Five Horseshoes
These days an unbranded Chef & Brewer ,owned by Greene King and hence all ale will be tied to them. The building is clearly old and sits in a classic country village opposite the village store and cricket pitch and next door to the church.
The entrance leads to the L shaped bar but also the seating desk ,so you may get pounced upon on arrival. However if you just want to drink inside, past the desk on the way to the loos is a square back room with a long bench seat, some traditional furniture and a flatscreen which was off. However all other front sections below the low beams are set for diners in what is a rustic interior. The beer garden is stone covered and has both pic nic benches and wicker furniture, but the mindless muzak will still be piped outside, there is no escape!
A friendly welcome ,but a corporate atmosphere,I was delighted to be told that the double clipped GK IPA was not available ,leaving the options as Old Dandy Hen (NBSS Acceptable but over chilled) and Deuchards IPA brewed by GK in Belhaven.
With that choice could I stand a session in here.No is the answer, but at least it does retain some pub vibe in the back room.
