Despite being recently refurbished (yet again!), they have not ripped the hart and soul out of this pub. I like this pub, good quality ales and beers and the food is always good, I always find the people friendly but not pushy. The new owners appear to be making a big effort to make this venue work, with a lot of money spent on the quality of the mentioned referb.
The only fly is the ointment was the service, despite being mid-week and not being busy, when we asked for food we were ushered into a side room and it was almost an hour before we managed to place our food order. When the food arrived one of our party received their main dish almost twenty minutes after everyone else. No explanation or apology was offered.
I have no doubt that I will give them another chance in the near future to show me that this was a one off incident.
