Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Phoenix
Elongated but basic sports bar with a pool table and a slightly raised area along one side opposite the counter. Was once a sub-par 'spoons-a-like, but all downhill since then with now just a very limited menu and a restricted range of drinks (even on a good day). Unfortunately, on this overdue - but unenthusiastic - revisit, even the Doom Bar sometimes available from one of a pair of handpumps was off, so the 'choice' was either bottled London Pride or the keg Lagunitas DayTime Session IPA (£3.30) unless you wanted lager, cider or Guinness.

It took a while to get served in here on Tuesday afternoon as the lone barmaid was collecting plates from the tables. The food is cheap and I got a Wetherspoons feel from the place, that is apart from the Sky Sports and plasma screens throughout and lack of real ale. Breakfast is available from 10:00 daily and there are extended hours until 01:00 at the weekends.
The Phoenix advertises itself as a party pub and is run by the Barracuda group, one to avoid if you've ever paid income tax.
