Some periods of being open or closed of late but now pleasingly opened. Located on an S-bend as you come into Ullesthorpe village and a few hundred yards from the Chequers, this a deep quarry-tiled bar area around a chamfered L-shaped bar with modern boarded dining areas either side of the bar in what looks to be an opened-out rectangular space. Sharp's Doom Bar, St Austell Tribute, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Woodforde Wherry on four handpulls but a bonus of six barrels on stiilage opposite the bar; leftovers from a Coronation Weekend beer festival. A Greene King Coronation Ale (I had to; sorry) was a fiver and pretty decent, followed up by a half of something called Lighter Night 'springtime pale ale'. Sadly, I was the only punter here at 5.45 on a weekday evening. Much espousement of them being a restaurant plus 'The Cafe @ The Swan' every Friday from 9–1. Such a shame, as although modernised, this isn't a bad boozer; it's heart is definitely in the right place, albeit how much longer it might be here for in this guise is anyone's guess.
