Rock/metal/goth/alternative music bar. 1 real ale and food served. Quite a dark interior with dark wooden flooring.

A lively Rose Street pub on a busy corner, the Black Rose caters for tourists, locals and students alike. It is quite dark inside, and the jukebox, whilst it has a better selection than most, is a little intrusive (but acceptable). Quiz nights are a feature here, as are loud, friendly clientele. The staff are not over-welcoming but professional enough. Only one ale on - Deuchres IPA which was in reasonable condition. Worth dropping in for a pint and I would be happy to include in a crawl.

When this was The Saltire it was never a great pub and now it has been renamed the Black Rose Tavern I found that little had changed. The toilets are still awful and the bar is still dark and dingy. Service is somewhere between non-existent and grudging indifference.
