Named after the Hare family who have been associated with the area and nearby Stow Hall for centuries. Inside is an open layout which wraps around a single bar. There is a nicely tiled floor in the bar area and a larger carpeted lounge section. This is a welcoming country style pub with various bits of paraphernalia adorning the ceiling.
Through the lounge there is a restaurant which opens in the evening and beyond that is a coach house which is used as a function room. Children under 14 are welcome in the vine-clad conservatory at the side of the pub (but gentlemen wearing vest tops are requested to sit in the beer garden at the front and rear of the building).
Just a hundred or so yards off the A10 at Stow Bardolph, the pub seemed very popular even at lunchtime and especially with the older generation.
On handpull there was Greene King IPA, Green King London Glory (guest), Ale Fresco (guest), Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen. I first came here in 2005 and looked forward to returning. I’ll be back if I stay in the area again.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch at this friendly, busy country pub. The steak and peppercorn pie was wholesome and tasty.
