Old Boots left this review about The Fox and Roman
Long thin Vintage Inn’s brewers Tudor pub on the main Tadcaster Road, near enough to the Knavesmire to be a pain on race days. Stripped back inside with walls removed, old beams installed and bricks exposed, nice flag floor though. Decorated with a mix of old photos and pictures on plain white walls. The pallet wood counter runs a short distance along the back wall and you’ll find a bunch of solo uninteresting keg taps plus five pulls with unexceptional national and local brands: Doombar, Atlantic, Landlord, Black Sheep and one unclipped. Beer quality was better than average.

Large vintage inns pub up tad caster road near to the racecourse. There is a very nice post modern interior done in a vintage style that is in a lot of vintage inns but they have done a very nice job here and the pub is very popular. This is more of a diners pub but drinkers are made just as welcomt to the right with the dining room to the left. there is a good selection of real ales which on my visit featured Harveston bitter and twisted and old engine oil, Doomar, black sheep, brakspear bitter, broadside and one or two others. the bitter and twiated was a very nice drink but over priced at £3.60, very expensive.
I did like my time here and would gladly come again as it is a very nice placd to sit and have a drink but at their prices it may only be one or two.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Fox and Roman
The Fox and Roman is a fairly large pub that is on the busy tadcaster road and close to the race course.
Once inside there is a single room which runs the width of the pub, there are two wings at either side, the floor is stone tiled, the seating a mix of normal tables and chairs and leather settees.
There were five real ales on the bar,i ha a drink of Black Sheep bitter which was a decent drink served by a chef type person who would rather be doing his proper job,i dont like being waved at from the far end of the bar to go and pay because he could'nt be bothered to walk back to where i was stood, moan over, the other beers were Brakspear Bitter,Doom Bar,London Pride and Bombardier.
Decent background music was playing and food was available.
This is a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
