Old Boots left this review about The Mitre

An estate pub advertising for a new tenant and consequently not open as shown in the various sources, it opens at 15:00 on Wednesdays when I made the attempt, sadly that messed up my plans to tour Clifton. It has two bars, there’s a pool table in a separate area on the left of the side door. Being York the adjacent estate is one of bungalows and 1950s semis rather than a council ghetto.

Graham Coombs left this review about The Mitre

Fairly typical late 20th century affair serving local estates. Reasonably-sized, it retains a public bar/games room and a separate lounge with a Sunday carvery, trimmed with olive green decor, conventional wood furnishings and leatherette benching. Outside is a green carpeted area purporting to be a beer garden, but at least it's handy for the adjoining motor workshop. The place actually seemed well looked after and was clean and tidy, with cheap beer and food. Sadly the two handpumps are long since out of use, although you do still have a choice of two bitters - ok, only John Smiths Smooth or Worthington Creamflow but you can at least avoid the fake eurofizz. In fairness, it does its job quite well and I have been in much worse.
