Not to be confused with the Spoons or Stonegate pubs of the same name, this is a plain locals' pub in the Craft Union brand, so numerous large screens and not much else to mention. Good to see the regulars playing cards though, even if I have no idea what they were actually playing. A fairly tedious keg range with one Brixton and John Smith's Smooth crap the only bitters. About its only usefulness is being the only pub close to the hospital.

A poor locals dive pub not far from the city center. this pub attracts a lot of the down and out types from the Groves area and thus is not the most pleasant place to have a drink.
Drunken regulars falling over and swearing at my half past seven visit, they had obviously been in there all day.
the drinks selection is very dire with the only bitter being John smiths at a reasonable £2.40, four hand pulls but no sigh of them being in use for a very very long time.
a slight saving grace was the large games room in the back that allowed us to have a quiet game of darts away from that hustle and bustle of the bar were the chaos was happening. A very eerie pub for regulars that passers by are probably best avoiding.

A single room, brightly lit and noisy community pub near the hospital. A thirties pub that's been messed about with. Bench seating mixed with tables and chairs in modern fabrics that matches the carpet. Two T-bars of low end kegs and four unused handpulls with John Smiths branding. Decorated with a few nice photos of York landmarks otherwise plain, there's a big screen in one corner but on Kerrang radio during my visit, there's a games machine in another corner. Mixed local salt of the earth clientele.
