Very convenient for the A19, this is a fairly undistingushed village pub. In spite of there being two doors in the entrance, one marked “Games” the other “Lounge & Dining”, it is a single L shaped room with the dining area at the back on one side. The games area has a dart board, pool table and big screen TV. The lounge is furnished in traditional style with a stove in a brick and stone fireplace at one end, there's a few pictures, certificates and notices on the walls and some nick-nacks on the window sills. The lounge and dining areas are carpeted. The bar counter is a carved wooden affair, possibly of no great age, and is home to three lager founts, Guinness, John Smiths Smooth and Strongbow. There are two handpulls, Black Sheep Bitter in very good nick on one the other unused. The last time I was here the place was rammed with a funeral party but this time it was a very quiet night, that I suppose is the way it is with village pubs.
