The Sir Pickering Phipps is a decent sized pub.
Once inside there is a long oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the bar is on the mid left side and the room is carpeted, the seating is comfy bench type and chairs and tall tables and chairs.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Oakham Citra, this was a very nice drink.
The TVs were showing sky sports football updates.
It was very busy on our Saturday afternoon visit.

Named after an old local brewer and politician the Pickering Phipps is a sports orientated pub with plasma screens throughout and Sky television capabilities. The pub is a reasonable size for a town centre and I found the staff to be friendly enough. It wasn’t that busy as my visit was early on Saturday afternoon when there was no sport on, but there were a few people in taking advantage of the two for one offer on the already cheap pub grub. There is a standard draught selection and India Pale Ale and Doom Bar were the choices from the two hand pumps.
This is not the most interesting place, but it is perfectly acceptable for watching the football.
