After a cycle ride from Newcastle that was cold and wet, we were glad of the opportunity to stop here for a space, andwere even able to place our gloves on a radiator, where they became warmer if not much drier. There are three hand pumps on the bar, with two beers on at the time of our visit: both from Theakstons. I went for their Double Cross 4.2%, which was ok but nothing special. Being situated by a roundabout, and having a large car park, this is a pub that will be hoping to attract passing trade that is looking for something to eat. We enjoyed our brief respite and, as luck would have it, emerged from the pub to find the rain had eased off.

This pub was very busy on our late lunchtime visit. The pub was all open plan, with the main larger area set up for dining. We went to the right of the main entrance where you escaped the hustle and bustle. This area had a pool table and TV screen with sound turned down, so we had to put up with the awful piped music, which was been played all over the pub. The bar counter had a small stained glass screen, trying to give the image of the bar side being a separate room. Beer wise there were two from Caledonian and a Theakston. Service was good in spite of the pub being busy.
