Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Rose & Thistle Inn
The Rose & Thistle is a remote pub, even by Northumberland's standards. But it was surprisingly busy on our Sunday evening visit.
A number of locals were in, along with a rather large family with 4 kids. At least one of the locals was a bit worse for wear.
There's a single large room, with a smaller verandah area which presumably overlooked the pub's garden. Although being dark, it was difficult to see.
Just the single ale was on. That was First & Last Equinox. Seemed a friendly enough place and was not quite what I was expecting for something so remote. I'd imagine it's popular with walkers during the summer months.

Here For Beer left this review about The Rose and Thistle Inn
Basically the last outpost before entry into true reiver country, the Rose and Thistle is a great calling point for travellers by foot, bike or road.
Good beer and a great selection of whiskys are among many great advantages to this establishment, along with the beer-garden in the summer months, with a stunning view of the hills to the south.
The main bar is roomy and light and includes a pool table and dart board for a bit of fun.
The evening meals are superb with a great variety, and by the time you've finished the steak & ale pie you won't be able to get home!
A very friendly welcome from the landlord and landlady as well. Most definately returning to Alwinton.
