Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Ship Inn

Backstreet pub in a pretty run-down industrial area. There is a single L-shaped room with an L-shaped bar. Walls are painted mainly red with green wainscotting and a green painted ceiling. It is carpeted, with a few old pictures of Hull on the walls. A TV was showing Wimbledon on mute, with music playing instead. There is a dartboard to the rear left, whilst a fruit machine was switched off. At the rear via a corridor, there is a nice walled garden with picnic benches and deckchairs.

Rudgate Battleaxe is a regular beer. I believe that Great Newsome Holderness Dark is also usually on but the pumpclip was turned round. Guest beers were Bowness Bay Fell Walker, Rudgate Pacific Ale, Yorkshire Heart Ghost Porter & Jolly Sailor Piece of Eight. Meanwhile, there is also a good range of ciders. Barbourne Golden Drop, Dorset Nectar Medium Organic, Iford Somerset Sahara, Luke's Vintage Draught & Courtney's Silly Cow were all on, with my choice Whin Hill Norfolk Growler listed on the board but having run out.

A fridge opposite the bar has various other cans and bottles for sale. Occasional food is served. The pub normally opens for breakfast at 10am on a Sunday but when we enquired, the barman believed they wouldn't be doing on over the weekend of our visit to Hull. Some rather large pork pies were on sale on the bar.

Dogs are allowed in and whilst we were there, the friendly pub dog was happily lounging around. Customers seemed a friendly bunch, with a few eccentrics wandering in.

I'd quite happily return to this pub the next time I'm in Hull, even though it is a little out of the way.

The Ship Inn is a small pub pub in a side street in an industrial area not far from the river hull. The main bar area is on the left hand side of the pub there are no real ales only Stones and Worthington keg. There are quite a lot of pictures of old ships hung around the room which was quite interesting to look at.
