A large and anonymous corner pub at a busy traffic intersection and signalling the start of a rather boozy half mile of cafe bars. It was surprising to see a bank of five hand pumps occupying pride of place, though disappointing to find that there was only one beer available. The missing beers, to judge by their pump clips (turned round) were Timothy Taylor Landlord and Greene King IPA. The beer that was available was a house beer from an unidentified brewery: Philip Larkin Toad in the Ale 3.9%. Despite its lack of provenance, it turned out to be of pretty decent quality, possibly due to having been "handcrafted ... brewed with five hops and malts". While pondering whether this meant a total of five ingredients (hops and malts), or five hop varieties and an unspecified range of malts (between one and five, possibly), or... by this time the beer had vanished from my glass and it was time to move on. Not really my sort of pub, but then I was beginning to get the feeling that West Hull doesn't do my sort of pub. At least the beer was ok.

This is a very large modern pub on the corner of princess avenue and spring bank its quite smart and comfortable inside with plenty of different drinking areas. The beers on tap were Kelham Easy Rider which was very good and Deuchars IPA.This is a fairly decent pub.
