Imposing raised level building overlooking a busy junction. Multi-coloured monstrosity inside; custard yellow, gunge green and plum purple, like something out of Noel’s House Party. Spotted a DJ booth at the rear so looks like it's designed for the late night crowd. Loud thudding dance music on during a Thursday lunchtime, we were the only customers bar (oddly) a couple of old ladies. Three ales tucked round the back of the U shaped bar - Belhaven, Black Hole Cosmic and a truly dismal Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted. We beat a hasty retreat.

The Half Moon is a large pub that looks down over the market place.
This was pub used to be a Shipstones tied house with a few different rooms and very nice Shippo's beers on the bar.
Once inside the pub has now been opened out into one large room with an island bar,the left side was fairly busy and seemed more like a bar area, the right side was empty and this had mainly leather settees in it,the seating in the bar area was a mix on normal and tall tables and stools.
There was one pump on the bar which had GK IPA on when i asked for a drnk of this i was told it was off,so it was a Guinness for me which was OK.
The pub seems geared up for younger drinkers and i would have thought it could get a bit lively in the evening.
