A gastro pub in this small village, this maintains a rustic air with brushed, exposed beams and stone floor. The bar is to the rear offering Black Sheep Bitter, Wadworth 6X and a watery Hook Norton Hooky (£2 for a half). You enter into an area with tables set for dining with a large, open fireplace to the left which holds an (unused) spit. There's another dining area to the right, semi-partitioned and a rectangular bar area, its walls festooned with hand-drawn caricatures. There's a small and more formal dining area to the left of the bar up a few step. A throng of well-heeled locals had commandeered the bar area so I retired to sit in front of the fireplace. The interior is nice, but there's something missing and with the preponderance of local breweries nearby, it's a shame none were represented.
