This cosy Cotswold-stoned free house is situated just off a dip in the road between Burford and Carterton and has some evidence of a GK past with some faded green and vanilla exterior signage. A former two-roomer, the bar area had stools up against the bar occupied by locals on a Sunday afternoon visit with a few tables also occupied in the same area. A slightly boxier room to the right was hessian-floored with a handful of tables and likely serves as a dining area. Two ales on the three handpumps were Young's Bitter and Two Cocks 1643 Roundhead Bitter, the latter of which was in good shape and was £1.80 for a half-pint. This is a pleasant enough stop-off, and note the Gents' is accessed via an al fresco walk, so be prepared if visiting in the Winter months.
