Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Bridges (The Horseshoe Inn)
The Bridges has a real remote feel to it and is nestled next to a fast-flowing stream. The interior is long and thin, with a dining area to the left as you enter and a slightly smaller area with a roaring fire and a sofa to the right as you enter. Toilets are behind the bar. An outdoor drinking area is available for those who have walked here and have muddy boots!
The pub is owned and run by Three Tuns. Having managed to visit the town of Bishop's Castle and having visited the Three Tuns Inn itself, without having sampled any of their beers, I thought it only fair to have one before departing the county. The 4 on offer were Cleric's Cure, Solstice, XXX & Bitter. My Solstice was in decent condition, but wasn't really my kind of beer.
Welcoming place in a wonderful location.

Much as described by Ray and Will, though my visit actually occurred in October 2016.Busy on a Thursday late lunchtime with walkers and birdwatchers.Reasonably priced hearty food. Beers, as mentioned, from Three Tuns. My stout was outstanding, the paler beers less so.Well worth a visit.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Bridges (The Horseshoe Inn)
The pub had a respectable number of customers on our Friday lunchtime visit. I liked the way the staff were welcoming and chatty and didn't push for the hard sell, to find out whether you were dining with them today or just calling in for a drink. The customer base on our visit was mainly walkers, normal ones, that don't need a collection of fancy sticks strapped to them.
The pubs interior has low ceilings with untreated oak beams and a mix of timber and flag floors. There were three areas the main bar area was on the right of the entrance, which lead through into a newer extension with a high vaulted ceiling and oak trusses. I noticed an unusual looking shovel type thing displayed across one of the trusses and found out that it was a malt shovel, used to turn malt barley in a malt house.
To the left of entrance, there was another lounge area, which was mainly set up for dining.
Seven brass handpumps on the bar with six in use, with ales from Three Tuns Brewery. These were XXX, Clerics Cure, 1642, Solstice, Rantipole and a stout. I went for the 1642, which was excellent.

This is now one of the outlets for the produce of Three Tuns Brewery in Bishops Castle (the others being the Three Tuns Inn itself, now under separate ownership, and the Sun in Clun). On recent visits I've found the beer quality here to be superior to the Sun, with more of the range of beers available at any one time too. The pub was busy on both of my recent visits, with a wedding party on the Saturday and large numbers of families with children and dogs on the following Friday afternoon and early evening. Staff coped efficiently and with good humour with both sets of customers. My sole quibble is that there is very little space near the bar for drinkers, but this is a complaint that would apply to most country pubs these days.

Slightly strange (in a nice way) local in gorgeous location. Food still a bit erratic and live music still features. Some good local beers on though.

Next to a stream in the rolling hills just west of the Long Mynd. Village locally pronounced as Ratchup contains this pub & Bridges Youth Hostel. Good walking country. The pub is pleasent and old world, the beer good (local real ale as well as the usual stuff) but not exceptional, the food erratic - my Ploughmans was excellent but my companions meal left a little to be desired - but well priced. Beer garden next to the stream. Car park is near by. Live music events held regularly throughout the year. Caters for children. Better than a 2 star but not up to 3. Believe the place is featured in BBC sitcom 'Green Green Grass of Home'.
