Oggwyn Great left this review about The Oxon Priory
Large rambling former Vicarage formerly known as the Cross Roads , now a Hungary Horse pub/eatery . It stands as its former name suggests on a busy crossroads , a large 1930s roadhouse style pub the Oak once stood on the opposite side of the main road before demolition in the late 1990s .
The pub itself is in an intresting looking building with a slight gothic air to it , there is a large beer garden and a kiddies play area , inside the pub is typical a hungry horse , although it has plenty of alcoves and different areas it is all a bit bland . To the right of the bar is a games room with a pool table .
Usual keg taps and two handpulls with Abbott Ale and a flavourless ice cold GK IPA , service was slow with only one person behind the bar on a very busy Sunday afternoon , another member of staff appeared and then started arguing loudly with some of the waiting staff rather than serving the lenthening queue of customers .
Not sure what they are doing right here but it was very busy and people did not seem to mind the hours wait for food , the shouty arguing bar staff , the crap beer and slow slow service , maybe i am getting old , this fine old building deserves much better
