E TA left this review about The Royal Oak

A pleasant and friendly town local, the only pub remaining in the NW residential area of Frome, this 1930s building sits in its own grounds on the main road through. It has a limited amount of parking at the front, while most of the original garden is now given over to parking at the rear. There is a small patio area and some wooden benches for al fresco drinking. The interior rooms have largely been conjoined, although the irregular shape means it doe feel a bit cosier than many similar pubs. There are gaming machines, a TV screen showing live football and a dartboard. The locals were welcoming and happy to chat. The barmaid was friendly and professional, making sure our beer was in good condition before allowing us to drink it. Three ales on, Tribute, Proper Job and Abbott. Also available were Guinness, Becks Vier, Stella, 1664, Cobra, Fosters and Heineken. Worth a visit if in the area, and it would be a good place to wait for your Indian takeaway from the neighbouring business.
