Of the beaten track, this 16th Century former farmhouse, now an hotel, is down a cul-de-sac and overlooks the Tarr Steps river crossing on the River Barle. There is parking but it's reserved for hotel guests. Parking for non-residents is a few hundred yards away up the hill. It also has a restaurant and, if you just want a drink, a bar open to non-residents. There is an impressive terrace with countryside views. Inside, the bar is narrow, carpeted, and has bar stools and some small tables. This leads to a square dining room. The staff were welcoming while the customers were mainly civilised. No electronic distractions and no gimmicks, it is certainly a restful place to spend time. Two draft ales on, 'Tarr Farm Best', which is from St Austell and is probably actually Tribute, and Exmoor gold, both in great condition. I'd be happy to come back, and it would be a good place to stay and I'd be happy to come back for a weekend.
