A pleasant and welcoming country pub which ticks many boxes. It has plenty of car parking, and there is a decent garden with a view of the surrounding countryside. The pub does B&B and is in a good location for that. There is a restaurant area on two sides of the ground floor, while the third side is a long bar on two levels with a woodburner at one end. It has a dartboard and there are various darts trophies on display. Food is freshly cooked, mostly pub classics, and they do some takeaways – burgers mostly. There are various theme nights such as curry and a pint, burger and a pint etc. Occasional live music and quiz nights are hosted. The staff were very friendly and hospitable though the other clients seems a bit brain-dead. Two real ciders on draught – Haymaker and Barn Owl, plus two real ales – Otter and Doombar. The ales were in very good condition. Well worth a visit.
