An attractive stone building set in a secluded area bordering the River Don with several other interesting buildings and houses nearby.Ironically Vintage Inns have done their standard fake old interior makeover with factory distressed beams etc behind which no doubt are the original stone walls. However the affect is still reasonable with a small bar by the entrance and then a series of rooms off to both the left and right set up for diners in various nooks and crannies.Drinkers are accomodated near the bar, which had 6X,Black Sheep and well kept Everards Tiger. The food is from the usual Vintage Inns extensive menu and there are several specials at increasing price points.I enjoyed my meal. There is a rather brusque manageress who shepherded several punters away from a seating area which she claimed was closed and the gnashing of teeth was almost audible from the customers who had settled in. Fortunately I flew well below her radar but I would return , probably not for a heavy ale session.

A fairly standard Vintage Inn in terms of interior, menu and beer offer although the building itself is huge and probably best seen from the river at the back. Food was good, as Vintage Inns tends to be. Tiger and Black Sheep are the regular beers with one guest, Wadworth's 6X on our visit, also available. The Tiger was well up to standard for this ever reliable pint. I suspect they may be understaffed as there were a number of long waits at the bar but it may just have been a bad day.
