Alan Winfield left this review about The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak is an estate type pub that was probably built in the early 70s along with the flats which are next to it.
Once inside i went into the bar which is at the front of the pub, this room was oblonged shaped with the bar facing the front windows, there was one long bench seat running acrosss the front windows and a smaller one opposite this, there were formica topped tables and small stools, there was a pool table to the right.
There was a seperate lounge to the rear which was carpeted and had comfortable looking seating, this room was not in use om my early dinnertime visit.
There were two pumps on the bar with one unclipped,i had a drink of Bass which was a nice drink.
I really enjoyed my time in this pub as it brought back memories of all the estate pubs i have done over the years.
I hope this pub continues to thrive as so many pubs like this have closed down.
