The Spread Eagle is a Greene King pub with a central bar that supports premium keg alongside Fosters and three hand pumps, one was unused and the Abbot was off which left IPA as the loan cask option. It was quiet other than a handful of people who were watching Tuesday night football via Sky Sports, so the small seating area in the right rear with views over the back garden was closed off. No fear as the pub is quite large so there were plenty more tables to sit at. The landlady was friendly, but the walk out of town is too far to warrant a revisit.

Situated on the A143 to the west of Bury St Edmunds town centre this is pretty much a carbon copy of what you would expect with a Green King Flame Grill pub. A carpeted main bar room, then a larger wooden floored dining area off that with the typical Flame grill menu and then a large external garden area mainly to the back of the pub with usual play stuff for kids.
The bar supports three handpumps which were dispensing GK IPA, Golden Hen and then the GK seasonal, Bird of Prey. I went for the latter and thought it was a surprisingly good Citrus IPA to come out of the Greedy King stable. I then noticed that it was a collab with someone called Uiltje Brewing Company from Haarlem in the Netherlands, so that probably explains it. As for the pub, fairly instantly forgettable but certainly serves a purpose dispensing food and drink to the local populous.
