As Mr Coombs describes below, this is a student/hippy wine bar hangout with a fairly small (and possibly even atmospheric) main room but 90% of the action is in the rear garden area which has its own bar. Fizz only here. 4.5

Downmarket lounge bar in a backstreet, probably popular with the young pre-club judging from the special offers. It is apparently allied to a nearby kebab shop from which food can be ordered. Th interior is on two levels with a small bar at the front offering a range of mainly Eurofizz. Even the Doom Bar has been discontinued, replaced by keg Atlantic. At the back is a courtyard garden with its own function room and bar which can be hired.

Pews is a small pub that is on the narrow Chapel Street which links Castle Street to the main High street.
Once inside there is a smallish oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the floor is bare boarded, the bar is to the front right.
The seating is bench seating and puff stools and one high table and stools to the front, the rear area is up steps and has bench seating and small stools.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Doom Bar,this was a decent enough drink.
There were two TVs showing the Man City v Leicester City game.
This is not really my type of pub,but it was ok to do while on a crawl round Guildford.

First visit of 2012 and a decent one. The Bombardier is still the only Real Ale on but is more than drinkable. The seating areas are designed more for groups than just two or three people - not which why it has to be like this but there we go. The music is towards the Rap genre - however still upbeat which is positive, they also show Sky Sports here.

A visit to the wine bar in October 2011. The place seemed lacking in most things, especially atmosphere. There seemed to be a particular lack of interest in serving hot drinks. The one real ale was Wells Bombardier which tasted fine. The landscape in the garden is something of an Amazon Rain Forest feel.

Nice location in Chapel Street but does not make the most of this, could be great but misses the boat these days. Bad beer, at least it is better then Five and Lime and HaHa Bar.
