Real Ale Ray left this review about The Railway Hotel

A striking looking building both inside and out, which was refurbished by Portobello in 2023. The interior consists of a huge corner lounge and bar, which is the original bar fixtures and they have retained the original partition over on the right of entrance. There was a further again large in size back room, which is tastefully finished to a high standard. There was also a large patio garden at the rear which is a popular spot on a warm day. Two ales on handpump, Harveys Sussex Best and Portobello Westway Pale, which were both in good shape.

The renamed Railway Hotel has been refurbished by Portobello. The bar area is a large room with plenty of space within several areas; further seating is available in at least one more room that I didn't feel the need to venture into.

On the bar, a few craft keg beers feature amongst the usual suspects, plus there's a couple of cask ales in Harvey's Sussex and Portobello's Westway Pale. A simple menu was also offered during my Friday mid-afternoon visit

With comfortable seating and a relaxed feel, it's worth a stop in the event of a train cancellation or early arrival at Worthing Station prior to train departure.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Grand Victorian Hotel

A very striking building, and although I'm not sure how much of the traditional-looking interior is original, it certainly has - or retains - a heritage look in the main bar (although other features such as the conservatory extension are obviously more modern). Just Doom Bar and Bombardier (£1.95, half) available from the four handpumps, but there is still plenty of interest to justify a visit here.

Strongers . left this review about The Grand Victorian Hotel

The Grand Victorian Hotel was built in the latter half of the 19th century and is conveniently located opposite Worthing Railway Station. It is still an operating hotel with 19 en suite bedrooms and one can get lost inside visiting the Victorian Lounge Bar, Colonial Conservatory, Feast and Fayre Pantry and Grand Central restaurant. I stuck to the ornate bar area that was very quiet on Saturday night giving a hotel bar feel. The bar is stocked with standard draught and I spotted four hand pumps. Two of these were unused leaving Harveys Best and Hancock’s HB as the cask options. I went for the Harveys which tasted ok but was short measured by a disinterested barman. I spotted a plasma screen, but this was off during Match of the Day so I doubt that Sky Sports is shown.
There are some picnic tables out the front and beyond the conservatory at the rear is a small decked beer garden.

This place is certainly worth a look for the décor and history, but now I have been I don’t plan to rush back.
