The Ritz is a large looking Spoons that was converted from an old cinema.
Once inside the front area is at street level, the seating here is normal tables and chairs, the middle area is up a few steps, this area runs the width of the pub,the seating again normal tables and chairs, the bar is to the rear and down two steps, there is no seating in the bar area.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar and all apart from the Spoons regulars seemed the be from Grafton Brewery,i had a drink of Grafton Jazz which was a decent drink on my early Saturday morning visit, the other Grafton beers noted were Frambois,Lady Julia and Sir Percival,i also noted a beer from Welbeck Abbey which i think was called Blanck Maynard, there was also a few usuall Spoons regulars.
The pub was very busy with most people drinking beer or lagers.
A decent pub to start my clear up of Lincolns pubs.

A cinema conversion in the less fashionable High Street area of Lincoln, the pub at night is spectacular due to the neon lighting on the outside, giving the impression of a 30's cruise liner. The interior has been refurbed, with a lot of space at pavement level ,a raised section up a few stairs while the bar is down a few more and is set in a foyer design. There are art deco hints and detailing dotted around ,yet this is still a 'spoons with all that entails.
There are two banks of six handpumps, both with the same selection on my trip.Abbott and Ruddles Best are always stocked meaning there are four rotating guests .We had Flipside Dark Denomination and Everards Sunchaser which were well kept ,and service was professional. It's large and popular, but given a fairly standard ale selection I felt there were better options in town.

A large Wetherspoon’s pub on the main road in to Lincoln. The long front part of the bar facing on to the street has some fold back windows, which whilst giving plenty of fresh air doesn’t offer much in the way of an attractive outlook. Up a few steps to the main part of the pub, and the long bar counter running almost the entire length of the back wall.
It looks as though it’s been here for a few years, and is starting to look a little tatty around the edges. Nothing too serious, but some of the upholstery is looking a little threadbare. There’s plenty of wood panelling on the walls, and several book cases around. There are also some art deco touches around the place which presumably hark back to it’s former life as a theatre. In a further nod to this, there is a listing of the acts that appeared here in 1985, and a number of black and white photographs of the actors adorn the walls.
There were a few plasmas dotted around and several fruit machines. The condom machine in the gent’s loo also dispensed tic-tacs which I thought was an odd combination. A barrel perched on a table and a couple of hay bales advertised a forthcoming cider festival. There is a small courtyard off to the right for the smokers.
Beers were a fairly predictable JDW range – Abbot Ale, Ruddle’s County, Directors, Everard’s Tiger, Hobgoblin and Midsummer Madness. Ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Strongbow.
