An interesting looking Cinema conversion with a split level interior, however it is a Spoons and wasn't exempt from the customary long wait for service while not overly busy on an early Saturday morning visit. However my beer choice of Magpie Cherry Raven when I finally got it was pretty good.
It's not the worst Spoons I've ever been in.

This is obviously an Art Deco cinema conversion, though not as impressive as the former Wetherspoons’ Coronet on Holloway Road; however, by night it lights up like a Wurlitzer, a riot of neon lighting meaning that you can probably see it from the Moon.
This is a rather smart ‘spoons on split levels with a young, studenty crowd and not that full for a Friday night at nearly 8.00pm.
None of us had a drink, we doing a lap of the place before heading back into the city centre.

You can easily spot this JDW, from a good way off in the evening as it is so brightly lit, with red and blue neon lights all around the outside. The interior is all Art Deco and incorporates lots of different coloured timbers and mirrors. There is a front lounge area at street level with the majority of the pub accessible via a set of steps. The main bar area was along the back wall. Twelve hand pumps, the usual suspects doubled up, plus six guests Hobgoblin Ruby & Gold, Beermats Razzmattazz, Grainstore Cooking, Magpie Cherry Raven & Happily.

As the name suggests an ex-cinema, notable for the remaining deco architecture. It looks a bit small for a cinema even with the bar curving round to the right hand side and a lower section at the front right. Fun is to be had trying to work out where the stalls and circle were. Usual ‘spoons decor and style, it’s six plus six pulls, the terrible trio on both sets and a reasonable selection and quality on the remainder, topped and tailed by the usual tap stuff. Unusually the toilets are on the ground floor.

The Ritz is a Wetherspoons converted building that was a theatre and a cinema during its heyday, which has long past. To be honest I was expecting some extravagant pub with a vast expanse of seating like some of the other JDW theatre conversions, but only the foyer and the stalls have been converted here. Tables run along the windowed frontage and booths back onto the raised rear area that houses open plan seating and the long bar counter that runs across the rear wall. The original brown panelling is found around the pub and some signed photos of past performers are framed on the walls. The bar counter supports standard and premium keg and there are two banks of six hand pumps. These were drawing the usual Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot Ale alongside Beermats Brewing’s Summat Blonde, Rudgate’s Ruby, Frome Brewing’s Funky Monkey and Bateman’s XXXB. The service was polite, but I was expecting a little more from this pub.

An interesting bit of cinema architecture which looks much larger outside than it does in. I don't know if it originally was a raised area, but there is a strange stepped-up level between the street and the bar which gets in the way a bit. Otherwise pleasant enough and some reasonable guest ales. I thought the security fencing at the side was some building works but it transpired to be a zoo-type smoking area, which is accessible via a small outdoor balcony at the back.

Nothing much has changed here in the intervening years since my last review. If anything the bar staff were much better and the range of guest ales were just as good. Gets an extra point.

This is a JDW converted from an old cinema as the name suggests. It’s probably the best of the 3 JDWs in Lincoln as it always has a good selection of guest ales and a decent atmosphere. It has the usual problem of not enough bar staff though.

A large two-tier Spoons with some nice Art Deco touches in the brown-on-brown curved interior (was a theatre/cinema in its original incarnation and there are numerous signed photos from those who performed there). Unusually, there’s a dart board and a quiz on Wednesdays. Truly awful toilets though. Went for a Wytham Shield FAB which was in very good shape. Also noted Elgoods Porter and Cheeky Imp. Enough to warrant a stop. 6.5

Sprawling Spoons with steps up to the main area and then down a few to the bar. Decent selection of ales and the toilets are on the same floor as the rest of the pub, thank God.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ritz (JD Wetherspoon)

Decent Wetherspoon conversion of an Art Deco former theatre / cinema, with a split-level interior containing quite a variety of different seating areas. Also has a small patio area to one side. Pretty decent selection of real ales from the two banks of six handpumps too, including three from Milestone - the 'house' Reel Ale, Dark Mild and Honey Porter (£1.03, half) - plus Roosters YPA as well as the likes of Ruddle's, Doom Bar and Abbot.
