Quinno _ left this review about Admiral Lord Rodney

Out on its own down the steep hill in the valley by the river. It’s a lovely place with multiple rooms via arched knock-throughs and the interior is kept to a good standard. Of note is the old tile work alongside the mosaic porch floor. Seven ales on over nine, my Goose Eye Spring Wells was in good nick and freshly poured-off (NBSS 4) - GBG listed, obviously. Licensee may not be to everyone's taste, professionally taciturn but he was alright once I’d warmed him up a bit. I really liked it here. 8.5

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Admiral Lord Rodney

Traditional multi-room pub, presumably located near the original riverside (but the water is now obscured from view). Regular live music events. Absolutely heaving during the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival but the staff were working well and the place had a great atmosphere. Good selection of real ales from five handpumps, including Goose Eye Chinook (£2.70). Well worth the trip down (and back up) one of the very steep side streets from the town centre.
