Very nice beer oriented pub beside the Leeds & Liverpool canal, two miles south of the famous Five Rise locks. A traditional pub with the interior knocked through into one large room with a fireplace at either end. The bar is at the back and there's an extension to the right hand side and rear. The bar has six hand pumps, two with pump clips turned around or missing, and four beers on at the time of my Monday afternoon visit. I went for Bridgehouse Aired Ale (Airedale - get it?), which was better than it might have been, a traditional English bitter that would probably have been better if it was the only beer on and everyone was drinking it (NBSS 2.5, £3.50). In fact, everyone was drinking it as I was the only customer. I'm sure it'll have got busier later.

My husband and I visited the Fishermans on Saturday 27th November, is was cold and snowy outside. The pub was warm and welcoming with a lovely log fire burning in the lounge area. We sat by the fire and viewed the menu and the specials board, there were so many nice dishes to choose from. I chose the lamb chops from the specials board which came with new potatoes carrots and creamed leeks, I could have had it served with salad or chips if I wished. It was very well presented and very hot. The meal was perfect, the vegetables were cooked just right and the localy sourced lamb was excellent, my meal cannot be faulted. My husband went for the classic gammon, eggs and chips, it also was well presented and hot,he cleared his plate and also said that his meal was excellent. I viewed the dessert menu and was tempted with the school pudding choice, lemon sponge and custard but I was so full that there was no more room, instead I had a baileys coffee. The staff were very friendly and asked if everything was okay with the meal, which of course it was, the price was also very good. We will be visiting the pub again to sample more of the meals on offer. The location of the pub by the canal is ideal, for families and walkers and the landlord and staff were very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this pub to anyone.
