Strongers . left this review about The Old Bank

I entered the Old Bank through a non-descript rear exit, so I was very surprised when I found myself standing in the middle of a grand bank conversion. To the confusion of the bar staff, I decided to leave and then come back in the much more bank like front entrance that opens into a large parquet floored space with a circular tiled centrepiece. Booths are found under the front windows either side of the entrance and along the rear wall under a mezzanine with more seating and a balcony overlooking the bar below. Televisions are located throughout, including in each individual booth, an England cricket test match was muted while a solo guitarist was singing on a raised area to the right adjacent to stairs up to the mezzanine. On the left-hand wall is a U-shaped serving counter that supports standard and premium keg alongside three hand pumps that were badged with Doom Bar and Sharp’s Twin Coast and Sea Fury, the latter being off. The draught selection isn’t going to have many rushing to visit, but the building itself warrants a look.

As Al says below, much improved from the previous incarnation. At least they now have 4 handpumps. Admittedly all had reversed pump clips on them, so beerwise, not much better than before. The barmaid claimed that they were cleaning the lines, Yeah, I believed her as well. I had a pint of Goose Island IPA on keg which was OK. Still not going to be a regular stop though.

Now called The Old Bank. This has been totally refurbished inside. The servery that was once directly ahead of you is now located to your left and is U-shaped. U-shaped banqutte seating is now where the bar used to be. High tables and chairs are mixed with banquette seating. The pub is still on two levels with the upper balcony level having low tables and chairs. The place now serves real ale with 4 handpulls on the bar with Worthington Cask, Robinson's Dizzy Blonde, Bombardier and Doom Bore available. The place is much brighter than before and the inside grandeur of the place can be better appreciated. Much better than its previous incarnation.

A massive barn of a place that's full of flashing fairy lights at nights. No real ale and the selection of wine is poor as well, considering the name having a poor wine list is criminal. 2 other people in on our visit, both reading papers.
