Will Larter left this review about Rising Sun
A rare example of a terrace cottage pub that has remained unchanged. Entrance is through a porch into a corridor between two small front rooms, each with a fireplace. On the left is a dart board and a hatch counter to the bar. Ahead is the tap room, or public bar, with the main bar counter featuring three hand pumps. This room occupies the rear of the original cottage, and must have been knocked into one about a century ago. Behind is a snug in the left corner, with doors to the kitchen and toilets along the back wall. Beers normally include Moorhouse's Pride of Pendle, but it had recently run off, as I was told by the pleasant and welcoming lass who was running the pub, leaving me with the sole remaining beer: Bowland Buster 4% from nearby Clitheroe. Disappointingly for me this is described on the pump clip as having "tropical undertones" (which I take as a hint of pineapple), but there was nothing I would describe as tropical about this beer, which was served in very good condition (NBSS 4, £4.20/pint) and went down a treat. I had the tap room to myself, at 8pm on a dreich Wednesday, a steady drizzle having replaced the earlier thunder and hailstones, and the small group of locals from the front lounge on the left soon made their way home giving me a chance to photograph both rooms for historical purposes.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about Rising Sun
With the Cross Gaits now closed, the Rising Sun is the only pub in and around the village of Blacko.
I arrived in time for the 3pm weekday opening time and shortly after, a mobile pizza van arrived and started to set up. Apparently they are here every Thursday on the pub car park, which is just on the opposite side of the road from the pub.
This is a pub that has plenty of character. There are two small rooms at the front. The one on the right is a games room with a pool table. To the rear, is a slightly larger room where the pub's dogs were residing. One was overly friendly and joined me at my table, whilst the other one growled at every customer.
The barmaid didn't seem particularly friendly. Perhaps it was just because I was a stranger to be treated with suspicion. Ales were Moorhouse's White Witch & Bowland Buster. I chose the latter, which was enjoyable.
Despite the slightly frosty welcome, I found this to be a nice, cosy local. Despite its small size, it was nice to see that the original layout had not been messed with and each individual room remained.
