Old Boots left this review about The Queens
A large pub opposite the railway station with one large bar at the front, a sitting room with a pool table to the right and another sitting room at the back labelled “Games Room”, it has a dart board. The main room has William Morris wallpaper and wood panelling, laminate and carpet flooring and mainly high and low wood tables with stools or chairs. There is banquette seating under one window and one end has a slightly raised area used as a stage for live music. The lighter woodwork, carpet and wallpaper does have a slight Arts and Crafts feel. Beers from Joseph Holt, my bitter was average, too cold and a vinegar hint, two pulls with the stuff, otherwise a limited Holts and cider keg choice on a couple of T-Bars. Screens and a machine with the usual constant music.

Newly reopened by a new manageress. It's a huge pub and on a Sunday evening the three of us that were in rattled around a bit. There's a pool table at one end which was being used by a young couple and one other bloke sat at the bar who, luckily was quite chatty as was the manageress. Only Holts Bitter available on the bar and as it had been a long day I just had a half which was in decent nick. It's going to take a lot of effort to make this place pay, so I wished her good luck and went on my way.

I popped into the Queens at bang on 21:00 on a recent Monday evening and was served by a chirpy barmaid. One of the two locals sat at the bar reminded her that she was meant to close at 21:00. She didn’t seem to care, and also served some pissed up bloke from Stoke who walked in five minutes after me. I knew he was from Stoke because I had just escaped his conversation when I legged it from the George & Dragon around the corner.
This is a high ceiling open plan pub that has carpeted seating to the right and a dance floor to the left against a low stage area on the left wall. In the left rear is more seating and to the right of the entrance is a pool table. Football is shown. The relatively short bar counter on the rear wall supports standard and premium keg alongside a couple of hand pumps that were drawing Holts Bitter. Upon seeing ‘Stoke Born & Bred, Man & Boy’ I decided to slosh back my half lager and slip out into the night.

Large, attractive building opposite the station. Disappointing inside, there's some nice old touches if you look such as the wood panelling but the interior’s been gutted into a large oblong room. One other customer on a cold and dank grey day. Just one cask, a well-past-its-best Holts Mild (NBSS 1.5). A pile of puke in the toilet sink, maybe someone had tried to skull a pint of that stinky pong earlier. A better operator could make something special of this. 4.5

I only had time for a brief visit here. It's an L shaped room with a mix of wooden floors and carpets. I noticed Karaoke was advertised.
I remember when this became a Holts pub back in the late eighties or early nineties. on my visit the four hand pumps had Holt's Bitter & Two Hoots and Well's Bombardier with one unused. I went for the Holt's Bitter, something I hadn't tried for years and it went down a treat. I didn't write the price down but I think it was £3.00.
I got the impression that this is very much a local's pub but I thought it well worth a look.

Directly opposite the station. A large pub that's open plan with various offset seating areas. A few real ales were available.
