Blue Scrumpy left this review about Cellar 62
I'd expected to find one pub I wanted to visit in Llandeilo closed on my Thursday evening and had planned to return on Friday lunchtime to visit it. That pub was the White Horse. In fact, I'd found it open and it was Cellar 62 at the Angel which I found unexpectedly closed on a Thursday evening at 9pm. 11pm was the published closing time.
So, it was that I returned to Cellar 62 in time for midday opening on a Friday. This bar forms part of the former Angel Hotel. It is a bare boarded lace that feels like a wine bar. The cask ales that the Angel Hotel once had have disappeared but there are some keg beers - Murphy's, Brooklyn Stonewall IPA, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Cellar 62 Lager, Gower Gold & Gwynt y Ddraig Orchard Gold.
Walls are filled with pictures whilst the bar itself takes up most of the space in the front room with several tables of varying sizes provided dining and drinking space, along with more seating at the bar itself. There are also some smaller rooms to the rear.
A selection of German bottled beers was listed for Oktoberfest and wines are not neglected with a blackboard providing a list. 20th November was also going to be Beaujolais night with 2 courses, a glass of Beaujolais and a live singer setting you back £39.50. In addition, a chocolate and wine tasting evening on 25th November could be purchased for £30.
For my visit, I was the only customer. Music was playing at an unnecessarily loud volume. But I could at least chat briefly with the owner who explained that they had closed up early the previous evening as they had nobody in. Fair enough, I suppose. It was just lucky that I was staying overnight in the town and could return the following day.
Not really my sort of place but it may suit certain groups of people.

This is an old town centre hotel bar. Inside it's old fashioned but pleasant with a central bar, a red and black tiled area to the right and a wooden floored area to the left. Furnishings consist of a mix of tables chairs and sofas. It seems that food is quite a major issue here. There was a truly awful easy listening soundtrack playing that fortunately ended while I was there, The walls are adorned with numerous black and white wedding photos.
The bar has four hand pumps with Jacobi Dark Magic Porter, Gold Miner & Original Best and Evan Evans BB. I tried the Jacobi Porter & Best (£3.20), a completely new brewery to me and both were in excellent condition. This is a pleasant enough place, a bit pricey compared to the Evan Evans place across the road but well worth a visit.
