A slightly bizarre start to our day out in Shipley and Saltaire, with the lass behind the bar having brought a hostile attitude to work with her. Service was abrupt rather than welcoming, and when I asked for the wifi code she said that someone had given it to a customer who didn’t bring it back, and now they didn’t know the code so no one could use wifi. She said this in a way that made it clear that it was my fault, because it certainly wasn’t hers. As one of my drinking companions pointed out, surely it's there on the router?
The beer offering was good, though five cask beers and most customers drinking lager suggests that perhaps not all that much of it is being drunk. I went for Leeds Pale and Kirkstall Pale, the latter in slightly better condition than the former (NBSS 3.25 on average). Taking a photo of the one remaining unaltered room earned another glare from behind the bar, and most of the other interesting features were hidden by national flags, presumably prompted by the Euro football tournament. We managed to enjoy ourselves here, being amused, rather than threatened, by the behaviour of the person behind the bar, but if I'd experienced it as a regular it would have been a cue to find a different local.

Listed on Camra's regional inventory of historic interiors, mostly for its window decoration (some of it reproduction), ceilings and fitted seating, the pub has admittedly been opened up quite a bit, with only the Smoke Room having any close relationship to the original. Nevertheless, it's a very nice pub and one that it is easy to feel comfortable and welcome in. There are seven hand pumps, with a cider, a house bitter and Tetleys Cask seemingly regulars - for other beers at the time of my visit see my photos. This seems like a popular local and is well worth the short walk from the town centre.

The best feature for me was sitting in the Edwardian smoke room and enjoying a good pint of Salamander. This room can be found in the far right corner. This room had original cornice work and fireplace also the original call buttons were in place along the timber rails. The pub also had some fine examples etched glass. A good pub this one, defo worth a visit.

The Ring of Bells is a nice looking pub that is roughly between Shipley town centre and Saltaire.
Once inside there is a single room which runs the width of the pub,the left side has comfy bench seating and chairs, there is also a TV on this side which was showing sky football score updates, there are some tall tables and chairs opposite the bar,the room is bare boarded and has some rugs.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Saltaire Blonde which went down well, the other beers noted were Tetley Cask,Copper Dragon Golden Pippin,One from Moorhouses which i think was Black Cat and one more which i wrote down but can not read.
This is a very pleasant pub to have a few drinks in,it also kept me dry for a short while.

An appealing, stone built, roadside pub, wedged between the junction of Kirkgate and the Bradford / Bingley Rd. Early Victorian in origin, it is thought to date from 1841.
Internally, it is largely an open plan space, although a small side room remains. It would appear to have had five rooms originally, but these have been opened up down the years. Although it’s had a modern retro refurb, the lovely old, acid etched, bay windows still remain, complete with curved bench seating.
At the bar, Tetleys Bitter, Saltaire Blonde, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and Ilkley Mary Jane are the regular beers, with up to three guests available on the other pumps. On trying the Blonde and Mary Jane, they were both in good nick and served at a decent temperature. Service, from the young barman, was efficient, if slightly cool. Bar food is available and special mention must be made of the excellent pie and peas, a snip at £2.95.
Overall, I rather liked this place. With its comfortable feel and cosy corners, I could imagine settling down for an extended session.

Modern-old in style multi-space pub with a central servery. Sitting between two roads you can enter from either side into the main bar, bay windows with built in benchseating and bell pushes to summon long gone waiters form each side. There is a snug like room with a screen to one side and another almost separate room to one end otherwise it's fairly open and carpeted throughout. The usual machines are there and décor is conventional brassware, prints and old photos. There's a good choice of local and regional beers on the seven pumps and my Ilkley Mary Jane was pretty good. It's a good comfortable pub that feels right.
