Bucking Fastard left this review about Fanny's Ale and Cider House
As the name suggests this is the place to find......ale and cider. The ground floor is bare boarded and winds around a small serving bar to the right of the front door. There is a useful chalk board by the door listing all the ales, and as you wander around the interior ,the pub get larger towards the rear. This is an archetypal ale house, with a strong CAMRA following and folk who shift pints with aplomb, but I understand that at the weekend younger drinkers also make their presence felt and it can get heaving, but in a good way.Needless to say ,it's in the 2012 GBG.
If you want a quieter experience follow the sign upstairs to the loos and there is a lounge on the first floor with some well worn sofas and wicker chairs.A tight spiral staircase up here leads to private accomodation. Throughout the pub there is breweriana ,old tin adverts,a real fire and gas lighting. The overall effect is pleasingly authentic.
TT Golden Best,Landlord, and Old Peculier are regulars and there were five guests on my trip with a very good Copper Dragon Fred Truman Bitter. The other guests seemed largely drawn from local microbrewers. There are real ciders and Belgian bottled beers.
A good solid drinking atmosphere,I would always pop into Fanny's when ever in the World Heritage Site that is Saltaire.I never did get round to ask how the pub got it's name.
