Will Larter left this review about The Town Hall Tavern
This was just a random pick, based on it being not far from my previous pub, but what a good choice it turned out to be. Five hand pumps centrally placed half way along the bar counter on the left (ciders listed on a board at the end), and the offering initially seemed unpromising, with Titanic Cherry Porter and Bradfield Belgian Blue next to each other, then Landlord flanked by Butcombe Original on one side, and Brains SA on the other. On a whim, I asked for a half of each of those two: what a good choice it turned out to be. I rated them both NBSS 4 (£4.60 - same price for both). I've had ropey examples of these beers in several pubs in Bristol or Cardiff, but these were the real thing. Service was friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. The place was buzzing on the first Monday night of the new year, helped by a carefully curated sound track of upbeat and varied sounds in different genres at just the right volume. There's a further room down a couple of steps at the back, a pool table in a small room to the right, and the front of the pub is a classic glazed snug, if there is such a thing. (Remember you saw it here first.) I reckon I'll be back.

The Town Hall Tavern has a banquette in the front window and a bar up the left wall facing seating up the right. To the right of the entrance is raised seating and sunken seating is found at the rear. Televisions are found throughout for airing live football. There was nothing on during my recent late Tuesday evening visit so these were muted whilst some background music played to the ten or so other customers. The bar supports premium keg and five hand pumps that were drawing a very nice Saltaire’s Amarillo alongside Sharp’s Doom Bar, TT Landlord, Brightside’s Mancunian Hoppy Blonde and Millstone’s Stout. Numerous old pump clips on the back bar suggest a regular and changing cask ale range. I found the service to be friendly and I got quite comfortable so would pop back in if passing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Town Hall Tavern
Very loud, city-centre pub doing reasonable sing-along business on a Friday night (although probably less than pre-pandemic). Not been to a place like this for more than 18 months, so it was interesting in its own way. There are remnants of the original multi-room interior, although most of the character has been stripped away during various refurbishments. I found two of the four handpumps in use, offering Landlord and Robinson's Dizzy Blonde (£3.85).

Five cask ales on Saturday evening. THT (Town Hall Tipple) by Brightside, Dizzy Blonde, Doom Bar, Hop Pale Ale by Blackedge, and Gold by Beer Brothers.
Pleasant enough pub.
Bogs are downstairs, where the floor is a bit uneven, the doors stiff, and the ceilings low. The gents have those awful waterless urinals which I'm sure are great for the environment but mean there is always someone else's piss left festering at the bottom of them, which is less than pleasant.

Larger inside than it looks from the outside, with a multi-level arrangement giving a selection of drinking areas, though the downstairs seems set up more for eating than drinking. Friendly enough, though the unwatched TVs noisily showing sport can be annoying. So-so TT Landlord.

A stunning looking pub from the outside, l was expecting the interior to be traditional and to have more heritage. Once inside, the layout is modern and is in keeping with the building. The main bar is on the left as you enter up a couple of steps. There was a smaller room to the rear and was set out mainly for dining. The pub is well run and staff were friendly. Three ales on, Wainwright, TT Landlord and Jennings Cumberland.

This pub had had yst another spruce up, in exactly the same style as before. Now has 3 handpumps serving Thwaites Wainwright, Black Sheep Bitter and Taylors Landlord. The Wainwright was a decent pint. Rather more foody now with meals served until 8.

Called in last Friday for a pint as I had been told it had been refurbished. To be honest I couldn't see much difference. You enter up a couple of steps and to the left is a small seating area. To the right up another step or two is another small seating area. At the rear there is a much larger seating area down a few steps. The bar covers most of the left hand side of the pub. Two handpumps on the bar serving Bass & Deuchars which wasn't very inspiring. I had a pint of the Bass which was OK if not really top notch. It's a very average pub for central Manchester and it could be so much better with a bit more effort.

Visited this lovely pub the past weekend to be greated by warm welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere.
I have heard that it has been taken over by new management and it really shows.
My partner and I enjoyed a fantasic meal; I had the eggs benedict to start which was served with a homemade hollandaise sauce, followed by the homemade steak and ale pie which were both outstanding!
My partner had the bury black pudding which came with a homemade mustard dressing then to follow he had the wild mushroom risotto which was dressed with a white wine, cream and garlic stock, he was silent through out which means he was really enjoying it!!!
It is really worth checking out this quaint little pub.
