An Olde Worlde pub on Chesham's pedestrianised High Street, a site of historical interest according to a plaque and other historical blurb out front. Inside it's quite narrow with a herringbone parquet floor on entry with standard tables and chairs either side of the central entrance, a brick fireplace to the left with the remnants of a sub-dividing wall in the middle of the room, a small "snug" area to the fore and to the left of this, and the bar flush against the far right-hand wall. With various fruit machines, three TV screens showing Bundesliga highlights to no-one in particular and a jukebox, one would expect an anodyne ale selection to accompany. Not so. Three pumps offered Robinson's Trooper, Moles Dark and Friels Vintage Cider (7.4!) with the Moles, a porter, coming in at a reasonable £3.50. Some nice original beams and old photos of Chesham and its surrounds, but probably too many modern flourishes inside to do the history bumf outside justice.
