an open plan pub obviously opened out from a multiplicity of smaller rooms in the distant past, to be honest they really shouldn't have bothered. The front room is a splendid traditional town pub bar with wainscotting, bench seating, some panelling and an open fire, albeit with a brutalist stone block affair round it. Décor is mix of non-descript victorian photos. The big screen is more than a little incongruous but I suppose thought necessary. Beyond is laid out in restaurant style, although there is some bench seating at the back. There is continuous musak from an impressive AV rig behind the bar which hints at better things. Two handpumps serve up the ubiquitous but drinkable Theakstons Best Bitter (mine served in a Black Sheep glass!) and Taylors Landlord, plus the usual keggy stuff on a couple of T Bars. The pub is home to a little and large of pub dogs.
