A large boho restaurant sort of place with lots of artfully-contrived ancient-looking stuff inserted into a genuinely ancient building. It extends across different levels, indeed different buildings, including an advertised roof terrace (not visited). It did have some interesting local brews on though, and very drinkable too, in the shape of Rigg & Furrow Run Hop Run and Alnwick Brewery Gold and IPA.

Dirty Bottles is not the original name of the pub, but refers to some apparently undisturbed-for-centuries bottles in the window and the legend attached to them. Once inside, it's a modern bar and bistro that meets the eye. There are some "craft" keg fonts and a couple of hand pumps (see photo). We went for the local Alnwick Amber, which was ok but nothing special.
