Very impressive externally (this a department store conversion, apparently). The interior itself is a rather middling with not much to write home about, a number of rooms knocked-through along the front of the building and rather dimly-lit in certain sections, why do Spoons have an aversion to the occasional 60W bulb? However no real complaints with my pint of Theako OP (NBSS 3) to accompany my Mexican spud. I stayed in the hotel upstairs and can report that the room was very good. Given the paucity of options in Barrow town centre, this one is an absolute no-brainer if you find yourself up here.

In common with most Barrow pubs, this branch of Wetherspoon's had its fair share of drunken people. Although, it was much quieter than many of the town's other pubs, both in terms of volumes of people and the noise levels. The denizens of Barrow seem to like a little loud music. So, perhaps that was why there were less customers here.
Having negotiated the bouncers on the door, my next challenge was to get served. A barman had clocked me, but carried on doing what he was doing until a bar manager instructed him to serve me! The usual Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar were all on, along with 3 guests - Summerskills Devon Dew, Magpie Jay IPA & Bowman Wallops Wood. The cider was Weston's Old Rosie.
A group of young girls opposite me looked a little worse for wears. They were sat at a table full of pitchers containing all manner of strange colourful concoctions. I would imagine that there would be a few hangovers for them on the Saturday morning.

not the most interesting spoons and found the beer choice uninspiring really but I suspect you'll struggle to find better places in desolate Barrow

Decent Spoons which is flat and wide with the bar in the middle. Usual selection of ales on offer. Worth a revisit.

A Saturday morning visit to this large single storey 'spoons which is a short walk from the station and is one of 2 pubs in the town that appears in the 2017 GBG.
Unsure what use this building had before it was a 'spoons but it's a bit more cosier and intimate than other 'spoons, the clientele were a mix of breakfast eaters and some early drinkers like my pal and I were.
6 ales on the hand pumps, the Coniston Blue Bird was on good form and service was swift.
Not much more to say, Barrow is quite a dessert for ale drinkers so I get why this place has been included as the pint I had was well kept and of course was Wetherspoon's prices.

This looks very much like an old school Spoons externally with the original plastic signage but as it is now one of their hotels it must have been upgraded. Inside the pub is on the ground floor and consists of a wide room split into areas and the bar roughly in the middle. The fixtures are certainly more varied than the usual old school shop conversion.
The 12 hand pumps here had two unused, GK Ruddles, Well's Directors and eight festival ales. I went for the Truman's Samson which was in good nick. I suspect this place has improved as a result of being extended into a hotel and thought it was a good Spoons.

Was in here recently and the beer is up to it's usual good standard as was the food.At the moment the place is covered in scaffolding,as they are turning the upstairs into a 50 room hotel and are also going to expand the pub downstairs as well.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Furness Railway (JD Wetherspoon)
Standard-issue 'spoons in a converted department store, partly opened out to form further seating areas each side of the main two-part bar. Also has a few patio tables out front. Ten of 12 handpumps were working, with a reasonable selection including Loose Head from the small Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery (£2.15). Let down a bit by poor service and uncleared tables when I visited, but otherwise OK.
