A stone-built village local with low ceilings, with exposed rafters and (mostly) fake beams - the original layout of small rooms having been drastically opened out with the use of RSJs. The bar was well hidden by a group of apparent regulars, making it difficult for me to see the beer offering. It seemed to be five hand pumps with Timothy Taylor Golden Best and two from local Dark Horse Brewery. I went for the Hetton Pale, which was in very good condition. The bar - what I could see of it - was made of dark wood, with brass rails for both elbows and feet, and brass hooks too, so I suppose it would have been rude not to use it as these bar blockers were doing. I guess that at a different time of day (it was Sunday afternoon) I'd have got a different impression, and on the whole it's good to see the pub being well used.

Visited 3rd Feb. 2012. Again good food at reasonable prices, 5 guest beers, inc. Wells Bombardier, Copper Dragon, good atmosphere.
