Previously a Slug and Lettuce, now a cask and kitchen-style bar, though it doesn’t brew its own. It’s definitely come up market with the refurbishment. The singe large bar has a laminate floor and a post-industrial feel, aided by the presence of lots of copper fittings, most of them associated with Meantime lager. There are three pumps on the bar, one, Seafarer, was off, the other two were London Pride and Doombar. The Doombar was over-chilled and lacking in flavour, but drinkable nonetheless. There was also a craft beer from Meantime and Neck Oil available at ridiculous prices. The staff were functional rather than friendly, and the clientele were the younger element, mostly the remnants of the thankfully moribund hipster genre. Food looked like reasonable value for the area, and there were several TVs showing live sports. A fair place to stop for lunch or a quick – if unremarkable – pint while travelling through.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bay & Bracket
I came across this 'new' 'Pub & Kitchen', being the former Slug & Lettuce, on its opening night, so the place was busier than seen in its previous incarnation, but will that last? Anyway, it now has several sports TVs, and music well above background level on this visit, and the food offering from the anonymous Stonegate menus is now less up-front. There are also three handpumps on the counter, dispensing Doom Bar, Pride (£4.40) and Seafarers. Meantime 'brewery fresh' lager is also available, along with six craft keg beers from taps on the bar-back, and above this an impressive collection of 13 boxed Lilley's ciders.

Unusually quiet S&L with only London Pride and Doombore on as real ales so no choice there. Usual keg offerings as well. Not worth a revisit.

Strongers . left this review about The Slug and Lettuce
This is a large open plan Slug & Lettuce with seating the stretches up the right beyond the bar on the rear wall. A mix of standard furniture and high tables with stools are found throughout. During a visit a couple of days before Christmas there was a mid-twenties crowd in attendance whilst a Christmas CD provided the background music. A premium draught range was available from the bar that supports three hand pumps. One of these was unused which left Sharp’s Doom bar and Hogsback’s T.E.A. as the ale options. I found the service to be polite, but there was little atmosphere even though it was fairly busy for mid-afternoon on a weekday.
