Visited 05/01/26. Visited previously 18/10/23.

Two handpumps, one not operational, the other dispensing excellent L Pride. Keg offering of Fosters, Moretti, Stella, Guinness, Peroni, Neck Oil, Amstel, Cruz, John Smiths, Camden Hells, Thatcher’s Gold, original SB.

Generally boarded venue with the bar counter along the rear wall with a couple of tall stools on the right-hand edge of the bar counter. A couple of booth tables in the front window and in the front part of the left-hand side. There are some banquettes along the front part of the right-hand side with the central part occupied by tall tables, with tall, backed stools or small round tables with bucket armchairs. The seating on both sides of the venue resides on a carpet fringe. Plenty of Arsenal memorabilia on the walls, with several large screen TV's showing recorded sporting action absent commentary, the sound provided by a very decent music soundtrack. There is a dart board to the left-hand side of the bar counter and a couple of pool tables in the rear right-hand corner, served by its own bar counter. Not been here for a while but recalled it is a decent venue. Had a good chat with the manager who has done the rounds with the pub companies, and it really made my stay here.

This was built in the mid-19th century as the New Sluice House, but had acquired the current name by 1944.
This is a two-room pub, with a pool table in the room to the rear, which also has a bar hatch, the bar itself being simple, with shiny white tiles. It’s really quite a stark place, with a completely new yet largely traditional interior, which is only a couple of months old. The floor is modern boarded, with patches of carpet to the periphery, where seating is conventional or banquette, cloth upholstered, with material that only Mildred Roper would appreciate, likewise the patterned swag curtains; tables too look cheap. The walls feature either patterned wallpaper or blue/green paint; furniture to the centre is tall and chunky. Lighting is Victorian in style, with further illumination coming from recessed downlighters; décor amounts to the odd knickknack, framed prints, some being of the area from yesteryear and unsurprisingly given the name and location, quite a few framed and signed Arsenal shirts to the walls. Soft music played, though the main entertainment came in the shape of many sports’ TVs with a megavision screen to the left, watched by one sole viewer, not that there were many customers in, locals overwhelmingly preferring the other hostelries in the immediate vicinity: the Prince of Wales, Woodbine and especially the Bank of Friendship, all doing fine trade.
Amazingly there were two real ales, Pride and Landlord at a very reasonable £4.40 a pint and on good form, served by a very friendly barmaid.
This pub is ok for a pint if passing, but it offers no competition for the ale and pub aficionado, who’ll be heading straight for the Bank of Friendship 100 yards up the road.

Early opener - Google says 10am but landlord confirmed this is only on match days. Not that Arsenal like playing football in Jan 22.

It was open at 11:20am on a Sat and I was the first to ask for a TT Landlord. Delighted that one was poured off first and it what was served was in very good condition.

Large open plan place - setup for the sports. £4.40 the keenest pricing of the three I went to in the area.

Hi,
Yes I used to go to that pub but, as a proper Arsenal fan, I would say it is definitely not what it used to be ...
I think there are better places these days.
It looks now like perfect as a pub for families.
Suitable for middle class people enjoying soft drinks on a sunny Sunday afternoon!

This is a large single room pub that I was fortunate enough to stumble into on Saturday whilst the Hull v Arsenal game was in full flow and I thought that there was a great atmosphere. It was obviously busy, but not so much that it was uncomfortable and it is possible to see the projector or a plasma screen from anywhere in the pub. I thought that the staff were friendly and I had a well poured Guinness from the standard draught selection. Pub grub is also served, but I didn’t spot anyone eating during my visit.

This place is perfect for watching football and I would return if passing again.
