A biggish pub in the centre of the village known locally for its garden which is good for kids. Inside it’s an L shape with a snug off to the right opposite the counter. Multiple seating areas in different styles, there’s a dining space at the front left with stripped back to brick walls, tables and chairs near the counter and further back more tables and chairs. There are four pulls on the counter plus a T-Bar and a Moretti solo, cask beers from Flacks, “Gales” HSB, Tribute and Flowerpots. I was warned the Flowerpots might have gone but it tasted ok for a bit then the barman was proved correct so my bad and the pub was not marked down. It’s not a bad pub all round.

Lots of character in this one - herringbone flooring, low beams, tongue and groove varnished wood panelling, undressed brick walls with some low lighting adding to effect. Enter to front of the building to the main bar with a side room (hosting a proper fire) via wood panelled divider. A dining room off to the right. At the far end of the bar is – perhaps incongruously – a pool table and TV (switched off). Apparently there’s an impressive rear garden but it was too late to go exploring. Four pumps which were all dispensing - Doom Bar, Flacks Double and 2x St Austell beers, Tribute and a very good drop of Proper Job. Plenty busy for a grotty Sunday evening in January, so clearly doing a lot right. Was quite taken with this one and would recommend a detour to sample.
