Strongers . left this review about The Old English Gentleman

The Old English Gentleman is an L-shaped pub with seating across the front and a dartboard on the left-hand wall. The serving counter sat mid-way up the right-hand wall faces seating and a banquette runs across the rear wall. During a recent midweek evening visit the televisions throughout were airing muted Sky Sports while some background music played. Landlord was available from both hand pumps alongside a standard keg range and Birra Moretti. There’s nothing wrong with this pub, but it doesn’t stand out from the crowd, so I’ll probably walk past next time.

Perfectly plain locals' pub, tidily kept and more welcoming than some. One large traditionally furnished room with the bar to one side and pavement tables outside. Draught ales were Landlord and Doom Bar.

Didn't spot any real ale and the rest of the pumps were pretty standard. Average pub.

I was also greeted by the smell of disinfectant and a bewildering pubs-r-uz layout, I should have been prepared for a typical down market town pub with beer to match. Four hand pumps with pretty poor John Smiths Magnet, plus Black Sheep Bitter and Summer Lightning. You will be able to guess the keg range so I wont bore you with a list. Within the odd collection of rooms there is a nice bar back, a pool table and the usual screens and machines needed in pubs today. Plastic glasses only if you drink outside.
