As noted by Ray this is a serious rip-off pub since the refurb. I stopped for a pint hoping to use a £5 note but amazingly this wasn’t enough for a pint of 5X! Everyone else seemed to be on the lager and cider on a sunny afternoon but the ale was in good condition. Getting served was pretty painful due to waiting behind numerous food orders, but it was then nice to relax in the big beer garden- inside has been nicely done too with plush comfortable seating. But I just cannot give a higher rating to such an expensive and pretentious place.

A very popular canalside pub that gets very busy in the warmer weather. The pub has recently gone through a major refurb, adding a huge lounge and bar at the front, an open plan kitchen and dining area to one side and a sun terrace.
They have retained the original bar area in the centre along with the original small lounge and open fire. Two cask on handpump Northern Whisper Brewing Co Oppenchops and Five Points Best. I went for the local beer which was a staggering £5 a pint and the Five Points guest beer was £5.50. The barmaid told me their Guinness is £7 a pint. Nice staff in here, pity about the prices as a pint in the nearby Ship is £4 a pint, regardless of the strength.
